In the high Sonoran desert, there is an oasis with water, green manicured grass, and yes, sand as well. Food and drink abound in this small piece of paradise known as Troon North Golf Club. Part of the Four Seasons Resort, Troon North Golf Club opened in 1990 offers a respite from the busy mecca of the Scottsdale area in the shadows of Pinnacle Peak. Immaculately kept grounds, native wildlife, and natural desert landscape including Saguaro cacti, boulders, and Palo Verde trees serve as a treat for the eyes on the two main courses.

Both 18 hole courses were designed by Tom Wesikopf, the original designer, and British Open Champion. There is the Monument course which is so named by the Monument Boulder- a huge and interestingly shaped natural boulder rising out of the ground there. The second course is the Pinnacle course aptly named for it’s breathtaking views of Pinnacle Peak. The golf club receives national accolades being named number one for golf courses in all of Arizona, and 21 in the entire nation. If you’re a beginning golfer or just don’t have time for a full course in a day, the Monument Express 9 hole course might be a better bet. The Golf Club caters to golfers of all ages. There are family golf times as well as a Junior Academy for ages 5-9 and 10-17 during the summer.

Troon has kept up with the times. It is possible for you to book tee times and make reservations right off their website (http://www.troonnorthgolf.com/) or their Facebook page. If you get there, and realize you’ve forgotten something, there is a retail section where you can purchase anything you need from balls and clubs, to shirts and hats. Mens and ladies golf shoes are even available to rent for the day. You can also shop this store online!

If you’re booking a group to golf at the resort, no detail will be spared to make your outing as accommodating as possible. With just a 48 hour advance notice, guests will enjoy customized cart signs, score cards, welcome letter and rule sheet, scoring and scoreboards, and even customized events of your choosing. The catering courtesy of The Dynamite Grill at the course is second to none with choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, hors d’oeuvres, or just cart stock ranging from health food to junk food, to beer and peanuts. The Dynamite Grill is open year round at the course and is a perfect place to meet before or after the game to eat, drink, and watch the flat screen TV’s. There are also numerous packages for corporate events allowing you to choose the best option to impress your client or make your business meeting more successful. Golf instructors are on hand as part of a package, or a la carte. Memberships are available to those who live in the Troon community under their HOA. Check the website for list of eligible communities.

With the stunning surroundings, Troon is the perfect place to pop the question. There are marriage proposal packages available to make sure she’ll say yes and have a memorable story to share with friends and family. The packages include rose petals, candlelight, Dom Perignon champagne, and more. After you’ve set the date, why not have your marriage ceremony or reception at the same place? Troon makes itself available for your celebration of love and has even been named Best Outdoor Wedding Reception Site. Indoor receptions are also available complete with chair covers, open bar, dinner, and place settings. Since the Troon Golf Course is part of Scottsdale’s Four Seasons resort, guests will have the perfect place to stay for the night, or send the guests home while you honeymoon in the beautiful desert surroundings.
